Antwerp Extra Gersten, the 19th-century prestige beer from Antwerp's breweries.
Brewed according to the original Antwerp Extra Gersten recipe from 1851,
also known as Bière d’Orge d’Anvers, this beer matured for five years in oak barrels.
During this maturation, the beer undergoes spontaneous fermentation. Before bottling,
it is blended with young beer, which adds freshness alongside the depth of
the barrel-aged character.
The result is a vinous, complex beer with a soft, gentle acidity, interwoven with notes of malt,
oak, and the wild fermentation with local yeasts.
A true provisional beer, which can be further matured in your cellar,
where its character and depth continue to evolve.
